The Winkler Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in the field of Electrical/ Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or related for hire in fall/winter 2021.

Prof. Simone A Winkler is the technical director of the WCM UHF MRI Program and aims to develop new technology for Ultra High-Field (UHF) MRI.

The successful applicant will join a vibrant and collaborative research environment at one of the top universities in the world.

Ultra High-Field (UHF) MRI with field strengths of 7T and above provides crucial improvement over 3T in spatial resolution and sensitivity for deciphering subtle features that are <1mm in size and could thus allow mapping of intricate detail. There are substantial hurdles to surmount, however, before the promised increases in performance for UHF MRI are fully realized. The goal of the Winkler lab is to develop technology for the UHF MRI in a variety of anatomies, and ultimately its clinical applicability. Areas of research for the successful applicant(s) include RF coil building and manipulation of the electromagnetic fields in the scanner, among others.

•PhD in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or related field
•At least 2-years of hands-on experience with RF engineering or biomedical engineering
•Proficiency in quantitative analytical methods and strong programming skills (Python, C/C++, Matlab, etc)
•Significant track record of research and publications in top scientific conferences and journals
•Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
•Track record of effectively working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Highly desired skills:

Knowledge in one or more of the following:

•RF coil building skills
•Experience in UHF MRI
•RF/microwave hardware development
•Artificial Intelligence / Deep Learning

The position will be for one year, renewable.
